Ralf Rangnick Takeover Soon, Here's What Manchester United Caretaker Comments

Manchester United caretaker Michael Carrick ensures his squad will quickly absorb the new manager's ideas. This was revealed by Carrick following the news of the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager of the Premier League club.

Carrick was assigned to United after the club decided to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last Sunday. After leading United at home to Villarreal in the Champions League midweek, Carrick continues to lead the Red Devils against Chelsea this weekend.

"I think there's been a lot of speculation and reports, but as I'm sitting here right now, I'm preparing the team for the game," Carrick told reporters when asked if Rangnick would be in charge of United.

"I think (the new manager) can quickly convey his ideas, history shows that. Sometimes it's not about ideas, it's just a different sound, a refresher."

"There are a lot of different styles and a good group of players here. Whoever comes in and whatever comes in I'm sure they can adapt. There's some good talent in this squad, I'm sure they're looking forward to what's in front of them."

United could face a familiar foe, namely Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, who spent two seasons at Old Trafford before succeeding with Inter Milan in Italy.

However, he is recovering from an injury so may not be playing.

"It's good to see Rom again. He's a great footballer, scoring goals wherever he is. If Rom plays, we know very well what he brings," said Carrick.

Carrick admitted that he was impressed with the performance of Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea, who are currently at the top of the table with 12 points ahead of United who are in eighth place.

"They were super intense, well organised, really good movement in our back line and their forward line," he said.

"It's very good at connecting to the midfield, with the back three being a bulwark, narrowing the space and getting you in trouble with the two full-backs."
